Show Name: “Charlie Brown” or “Pony Express”
Late
20’s Bay Morgan Pony Gelding
Brownie
has another well known name - "The greatest pony in the world"!! It
is well earned! This older Morgan Gelding is still a wonderful ride suitable
for beginners to advanced riders.
Brownie
has spent a lifetime of summers at Longacres. He is extremely versatile in
every way. He is a great tool for young riders to learn on and yet can do
puddle jumpers too. We are pretty easy on him in his later years now though!
Brownie has been an incredible asset to the camp and has won championships
over and over again. There is NOTHING to complain about him!
Brownie
is the oldest horse we have in the barn but you really can’t tell by looking
at him. Several people this last summer were shocked to hear his age, they
mistook him for being MUCH younger. Let’s hope his "energizer
bunny" genes keep going, and going!!!
I love Brown Cow. I jumped my very
first jump on him and he is an amazing horse for less experienced riders. He
is so sweet. Brownie almost never eats all of his hay, a product of his being
older than he used to be! In his prime, or so I'm told, he was a great
jumper, and I believe it! ~submitted by C.I.T. Laura F. (a.k.a. “Fosto”) in
2009 (Tom’s note: Laura, aka “Fosto”, is pictured at the top of this page
with Brownie and three ribbons at her first horse show. That is a few years
ago now, and Laura has grown a “bit” taller, and gained tons of show
experience since!
Brownie is a trusty
old man who has been here forever. He is always fun to ride, even if he can't
do much anymore. This poky, old pony will do anything you ask and you don't
have to worry about the rider on him, no matter what level they are at. He's
super friendly and will stick his head out into the aisle with his ears
forward expecting you to pet him; he is adorable and we mastered the
cross-rail division in the STSS a couple years ago. In his younger days he
was an amazing jumper and could do ANYTHING. This earned him the name
"Old Man Jumper Pony" in the Lazy Days 2009 fun show.

Brownie
is perhaps THE GREATEST horse to EVER come to Longacres. Brownie was my
favorite horse when I came to mother-daughter week in 2005, and was the first
horse I had ever shown, and was the first horse I jumped in my life. Brownie
is a very patient horse with even the most beginner riders, and a really sweet horse no matter what. I have
often heard Brownie referred to as "bomb-proof" and I completely
agree. "Brown Cow" is a favorite horse of many past and current
students. ~submitted by C.I.T. Laura F. (a.k.a. “Fosto”) in 2008
Brownie
is the favorite of many beginning riders here, and is one of the sweetest and
mellowest ponies here, although he is also an excellent jumper. He is also a
wonderful trail horse, and wakes up on trails. He is also utterly adorable!
Nicknamed brown cow, he is described as "totally perfect" by Laura.

Brownie--(a.k.a Pony Express,
Charlie Brown, and Brown Cow)
Brownie is the all around wonder pony.
Everybody whos ridden him knows
exactly what I'm talking about. I showed him
in hunters, but he can do jumpers to.
(He did 3ft jumpers with Tovah at the
fair and did very well!) He lovesssss
the trails. I rode him in a hunter
pace in the cantering division with Marce
and Hannibal, and we caught up to
them!!! He's really cute. He looks a
little like a cow, which earned him the
nickname "Brown Cow." He's a great pony
and I really miss him.
