Here's a picture of the RV parked next to a small lake in the Canadian north woods early in our trip last week. We were the only ones in the camping area, or for miles around probably!

The Saint Lawrence River gulf along the Gaspe peninsula - 17 hours from home!

Meghan won't miss an art museum in a new city - this is the Canadian National Gallery in Ottawa.

We had lunch by this lake in the Adirondacks on the way home.

Back at Longacres first thing this morning, Meghan greets Patti and Boo.

This is on our new circular access drive at the Longacres office. It looked like a fresh gash in the woods just a week ago but is already blending into the scene as the leaves fall.

The new concrete and stone work is nearly done by the creek crossing between the cabins and the dining hall.

another shot of the refurbished creek crossing.

The big creek just as the leaves are beginning to change.

All the cabins are locked up for the fall. Can you tell which one this is?

Joel and Taylor put the winter shutters on the dining hall while we were traveling.

Taylor washed all the saddle pads while we were away.

Taylor was very busy last week! She got all the school saddles and girths cleaned and oiled.

Freshly cleaned girths waiting to be used next year.

Several wheelbarrows full of jump cups stored for the winter.

Some of our maintenance projects fix a problem and then it is taken care of for a number of years. Others, like repairing this barn porch supporting pole are constant annual jobs that have to be done more and more each year - one of the costs of having been in the business for 70 years!

Usually we do our jump repairs and painting in the spring before the farm opens for the summer season, but Joel got ahead of the job this fall. He rebuilt 20 of the older jump stands with brand new bases this week. They won't wobble when they're set up next season!

Meghan gave me this "welcome home" present this morning. There's a rare chestnut tree near the end of the office driveway. THANKS, Meghan!

Taking the tractor out to mow some grass and do some landscaping this morning.

I will forgive you if you do not recognize this pile of dirt and mud as the gorgeously landscaped bit of lawn beside the office driveway that it will become by next summer! This has been one of Tom's pet projects this fall to get rid of a muddy area along the driveway.
