THE STABLES
Our horse barn is 170 feet long with a center aisle and box stalls along both sides. There's also a ten foot wide covered porch all long the front.
Other Longacres Buildings
Parents, especially, want to know the condition of our buildings and other facilities. The answer is, "It's a mixed bag"! Longacres will turn 66 years old this summer. There are many advantages to a place that's been in the horse business that long, but an easy maintenance schedule is not one of them!
As you can see in the above photos, we have a very nice horse barn that is well maintained. The main house where we have the office and get together for video's and other events is pretty fancy, too. The dining hall is one of the oldest buildings in the camp. We maintain it well, but you can tell it's been around longer than most of US.
The sleeping cabins are also well maintained and painted, but they are not fancy. They are small cabins, red with white trim on the outside, and knotty pine paneled on the inside. They sleep 5 to 7 students.
We have a good running water toilet house in the central camp area, a decent wash room, and an OK older shower room, freshly painted. I would say the shower room is our least nice facility.
Old Buildings
We have many older buildings on the grounds that were used years ago when we ran a much larger general interest camp program in addition to the horse program. Many of those older bunks and storage buildings have been torn down in the past couple of years. Some of our old friends who visit Longacres to remember their youth have trouble recognizing some parts of the farm that have been returned to nature!
Facility Summary
The things that are important to our riding program are in great shape. We have a beautiful barn, our
The pictures on this page give you a virtual tour of our barn, horse jumps, riding areas, and other facilities.

Below: The inside of "Pegasus Cabin". Nice knotty pine paneling, glass windows, some typical poster decoration on the walls. Note the small rugs on the floor - we suggest you bring one. Note the turned over pop can on the table; typical "camper junk"!

Last Pic . . . beautiful scenery!!!!! I took a long walk around the camp this morning (March 8, 00), and took some new digital photo's. Here's one taken at the creek that flows for half a mile along one side of Longacres property. The camp is on the right bank as you look down the river in this picture. Note that the water level is a lot lower during the summer when we go "sneaker-creeking" here! - Tom
